The Best Beach In America
Monday, July 28, 2008 at 7:39 PM
After Disney World we spent four glorious days at 2005's Best Beach In America. Ft DeSoto Stae Park, located in Tierra Verde, FL, just outside of St. Petersburg, is home to one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever find. We found a great hotel in Clearwater, just a few minutes away. We had no clear destination, so we just happened upon this little slice of heaven. And since July 14th was Sharif's 13th Birthday, I gave him the choice of where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do. He said: The Beach...and I had to literally pull him out of the water at the end of the day. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHARIF!!!
We enjoyed every minute soaking up the sun, collecting shells, and riding the waves. We even rented a surrey to explore a bit of the island, and we saw an unlikely critter who inhabits the island (I was so not expecting this at a beach). As an East Coast girl, the highlight for me was watching the sunset into the Gulf of Mexico. It was incredible. Below are just a few of my favorites, taken with both my Nikon and Sharif's Canon p&s...

A message to their Dad:

this was my view when I was lounging...

It was so cool being this close to a protected Sea Turtle nest...

I absolutely love the pic of your daughter doing the dance pose. It is a really cool picture. I have been to that beach (I lived in Florida) and it is a really nice area. But you definitely captured all of the beauty...
Chantal,
Your son looks like he came right out of a high-end film on the beach! I love the picture on the right, he almost could be mistaken for a modeL! I agree with Danielle too, your daughter's dance pose is AWESOME! HOpe things are going well!
